Why We Built This Site
Minnesota gives the public broad access to court records, but the hard part is figuring out which office holds the file you want. Steele County uses Court Administration for District Court records, the Recorder / Registrar of Titles for marriage and vital records, and the Sheriff's Office for jail, warrant, and records-request questions. We organize the courthouse address, the county contact directory, the daily calendar, and the state search tools so the office and record type stay matched.
That matters in Owatonna because the courthouse on East Main Street, the Recorder on Florence Avenue, the County Attorney on South Cedar, and the Detention Center on Alexander Street all serve different record functions. A single search can point to more than one office, but the underlying source office is what determines whether you need a case file, a certified copy, or a custody roster.

This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to any Minnesota court, clerk's office, sheriff's office, or state agency. There are real limits to what we can help with:
- We cannot file paperwork or send records requests on your behalf
- We cannot issue certified copies of any court document or vital record
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific case applies to you
- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or address listed on this site is current right now
Only the issuing court or government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point you to the right office, but the document has to come from them.
